The Guardian's Robin Denslow called Mokoomba "the best young group in Zimbabwe," and Afropop World Wide magazine "just the most impressive group that Zimbabwe has created lately."
In May 2018, Mokoomba was included in the Afropop Worldwide Hall of Fame at a ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of the Peabody Award.
Musicians performed at such major world venues as the Lollapalooza, Sziget Festival and WOMAD.
MOKOOMBA is a music band, originally from Chinotimba, Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. The band sings in several languages including English, Tonga, Nyanja, Ndebelei Shona. MOKOOMBA takes its name from the word Tonga, which means deep respect for the Zambezi River and the vibrant life on its banks.
MOKOOMBA combines traditional and modern instruments, as well as various international pop and pan-African styles, including soukous, funky reggae, to combine different cultures of Southern, Eastern and Central Africa.
